A 1" (25 mm) tweeter delivers flat response to 50 kHz. A central waveguide optimizes dispersion characteristics.
The 4" midrange driver features 1 piece chassis/1 piece cone and surround construction to minimize destructive resonances. Further enhancements include a custom voicecoil former, ferro-fluid, and surround foam damper.
The 8" mid/bass driver utilizes an ultra-light magnesium cone for bass precision and low end detail as well as better low frequency projection and impact. A large motor enhances cone control and lowers distortion. A copper phase plug helps reduce eddy currents.
Two 10" woofers also use large motors to achieve a controlled cone motion and lowered distortion. Special motor geometry aids linearity. The woofer voicecoil is vented at the top plate for improved power handling. Custom made aluminum cones lose less energy, are light, ridged, and promote fast response with enhanced low frequency impact.
The tweeter crossover features a third order Butterworth high pass filter @ 3550 Hz. The midrange driver's natural rolloff is used for the high pass filter with a second order Bessel HPF added @ 126 Hz for power handling. A third order Butterworth low pass filter is utilized @ 2860 Hz. A second order Chebyshev high pass filter @ 118 Hz and a second order Butterworth low pass filter @ 422 Hz are employed for the midwoofer. Finally, the woofers are crossed over via a second order Chebyshev low pass filter @ 119 Hz.
A massive, 2 inch thick MDF baffle eliminates mechanical driver interaction. All Resolution enclosures are constructed of 1" thick, MDF panels for enhanced rigidity and immunity to vibration. Heavy internal bracing dramatically reduces cabinet resonance. An elegant, curved enclosure design reduces standing waves. Dual tuned ports extend low frequency response. A mid-bass sub-enclosure eliminates acoustic interference from low frequency drivers.
Two sets of WBT binding posts offer bi-wire capability. Adjustable spiked and glide feet accommodate all types of flooring.
