BRIEF DESCRIPTION :

It is hard to believe that the PH5 was introduced back in July 2004. The PH5 has also been a sales success and acclaim internationally. With all the advances made for other products in the last six years, Audio Research decided it was time to renew the phono stage at a lower price. We are proud to introduce the new PH6.Outwardly, the PH6 incorporates the same cosmetic changes seen on other recent Audio Research products, with silver handles and buttons, small piece of aluminum underneath the display. The chassis and top cover are black, black front panel, black knobs and black handles are always available as an option. The circuitry and operation of the PH6 are the same as its predecessor, the buttons on the front panel control Power, Mute, Mono, and loading of the head.

DESCRIPTION :

The choices of the load are 47K, 1000, 500, 200 or 100 ohms. All functions are duplicated on the remote control. The rear panel includes a pair of single-ended inputs, a ground, and a 15A IEC connector. The PH6 is a hybrid (like PH5), with high-gain JFET input constant current and stadiuo stabilization without any counter-reaction. The PH6 uses four 6H30 twin triodes. Instead of replacing the valves towards the 2,000 hours, now you can expect more than 4,000. The bandwidth is <0.5Hz to 400kHz and the total gain is increased (from 0.5) to 58dB, the RIAA stage is slightly better, and in general the noise is even lower. The power transformer R-core is new and made in the U.S.

You can not upgrade to a PH5 PH6. In terms of sound, the PH6 is a much higher league. His improvements are immediate and obvious, the more resolution on high-end, improved micro and macro dynamics, soundstage and better focusing of the bigger picture with three-dimensional stage, and the air around the instruments simply wonderful. The real surprise is how relaxed and pure sound of the refund PH6 that allows you to get lost in the music, this is what makes the best analog in a magical way.  The CD6 offers disc playback via the Philips Pro2 transport (still considered the industry standard), plus four digital inputs (asynchronous USB, coaxial RCA and two toslink). All inputs handle 24 bit / 192k resolution.

Benefitting from what Audio Research has learned in the development of the REF DAC and CD9, the CD6 utilizes quad 24-bit DACs running in mono mode, with dual master oscillators for highest performance; one for 44.1/88.2/176.4 sample rates, the other for 48/96/192kHz sample rates. Sample rate conversion is selectable for all inputs, allowing playback in native resolution or via upsampling, including compact disc and USB. Additionally, there is a selectable digital filter offering fast or slow rolloff. In addition to the digital inputs, the back panel includes two digital outputs (AES/EBU and BNC), and single-ended RCA and balanced XLR outputs. Sonically, the CD6 is a stunner, uncovering new musical detail in every corner of your recordings and providing startling dynamics, both micro and macro. The top end is extended, airy and pure, while bass definition and impact are precise and powerful. The recording venues are lifelike, broad and expansive or close-up and intimate, depending on what was captured by the engineer. Like great analog, listening to music through the CD6 draws you into the performance, not just the notes, with resolution and transparency that are in service of the music.
