With a dual-channel video format converter, the Evolution-525 outputs 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p via HDMI.
A complete Evolution (source, preamp, amplifier) system, connected in CAST, reduces the number of voltage gain stages to the minimum: one.
The Evolution 525 supports DVD-video, SACD (single, dual, and hybrid), CD-R/RW, MP3, and WMA formats.
The Evolution Series culminates more than two decades of cutting edge audio design and includes stereo and home theater components that embody 26 years of Krell design and manufacturing excellence. When envisioning Evolution, Krell had a solitary goal - to handcraft a range of components that, simply put, were the best sounding products ever built. The result is a synthesis of almost impossible contradictions; a unique blend of beauty, grace, and the effortless power synonymous with the Krell name.
All Evolution Series components are available in diamond-cut silver and a luxurious black finish. The Evolution 525 DVD/SACD/CD Player builds upon the features and functions of the Evolution 505 SACD/CD Player, adding a state-of-the-art video engine that features stunning 1080p performance and video processing controls. Unlike other solutions that provide 1080p outputs through down- and up-scaling, the Evolution 525 utilizes 3D deinterlacing, providing state-of-the-art image quality for high-resolution, large-panel displays and projection systems. Matched 24-bit /192 kHz DACs are used on all channels, and the left and right output circuitry provides CAST and balanced connections for optimal stereo playback.
Surface Mount Technology, a state-of-the-art circuit miniaturization technique, provides the circuit density and signal transfer capability demanded by the advanced Krell circuit design employed in the Evolution 505. The current output signal of the DACs is fed directly to the Krell Current Mode audio circuitry eliminating the deleterious effect of the current-to-voltage conversion stage present in other designs. Evolution circuit topology breaks through bandwidth limitations of conventional designs resulting in near perfect performance in the audible range.
A complete Evolution (source, preamp, amplifier) system, connected in CAST, reduces the number of voltage gain stages to the minimum: one. The resulting noise floor approaches the theoretical limit of technology. The power supply makes use of extensive electrical and magnetic shielding to keep radiated interference out of critical audio circuits. Separate power for drive mechanism, digital and analog circuitry maximizes the performance of all sections. A custom-wound toroidal power transformer, 10 times larger than the transformers found in typical source units, offers tremendous current and low noise operation for the analog circuitry. Several stages of regulation insure rock steady power to all gain stages for maximum dynamic impact.
