BRIEF DESCRIPTION :

Audio/Video Amplifier

DESCRIPTION :

Dreadnaught is an audiophile caliber amplifier with total flexibility in terms of how many channels (from two to five) are installed at any given time. It can begin as a stereo amplifier, and grow to five channels later. It should measure 19" x 9.5" x 23 1/2" and weigh up to 120 lbs. Projected release date is October first.

Many multichannel amplifiers are available from companies that do not make music-oriented amplifiers. Standards for home theater are not considered to be very demanding. For music, these amplifiers are highly uninspiring, but they are considered acceptable for home theater. Also, they are generally right at the edge of offering sufficient power (typically 100-125 watts), as well as borderline in acceptability for music listening.

Granted, multichannel amplifiers are designed to take price into account. But we are aware of economies made possible by combining channels on one chassis. There should be BETTER quality per channel in a given price range, in a well-designed multichannel amplifier. We would hate to think that companies with ultra-high standards for stereo are cynically making mediocre multichannel amplifiers to match the quality indigenous to the category.

We feel we have succeeded in offering an amplifier that truly serves the music. You can have it as a two channel amplifier, or load it with up to five channels, each with enough power to properly do home theater: Each channel is rated at 200 watts into 8 Ohms, 400 into 4, and even more into 2 Ohms.

The Dreadnaught employs zero feedback! Throughout its design and construction, we have built it to the high quality standards you expect from Theta.
